  • The Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Kathmandu, under the patronage of His Excellency the Ambassador Mr. Saad bin Nasser Abu Haimed, held a ceremony on the occasion of International Women’s Day at the chancery, which falls on March 8 of each year.

In his speech, Ambassador Abu Haimed stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al-saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, supports the empowerment of women, which has enabled them to achieve unprecedented leaps.

The ambassador pointed out that Saudi women have entered all fields, including diplomatic work, as six Saudi female ambassadors were appointed around the world.

The ambassador pointed out that 20% of the members of the Consultative Council in the Kingdom are Saudi women, pointing out that Saudi women own more than 45% of small and medium enterprises in the Kingdom.

The Saudi ambassador added during the ceremony that the participation of Saudi women in the labor market reached more than 37%. The percentage of employment in the industrial sector has also increased to 93% over the past 3 years with the participation of 63,000 Saudi women.

The ambassador stated that amending some laws, such as the Civil Code, Labor and Social Insurance, contributed to enabling women to participate effectively and equally in society.

Ambassador Abu Haimed expressed his appreciation to the woman for her constructive contributions in various fields and for demonstrating her ability to bear responsibility with success and distinction.

On this occasion, the embassy’s female employees were honored.
